Melissa Longoria Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Longoria, who passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 54.

Melissa was born on May 5, 1972, at Knapp Medical Center Weslaco, Texas. A woman of deep faith, she devoted much of her life to serving others through the United Methodist Church. She faithfully served several congregations over the years, most recently at New Riverside United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, where she found purpose, friendship, and joy.

If you knew Melissa, you knew she was going to tell you exactly what she thought. She was known for speaking her mind with honesty and conviction, and those who knew her understood that her words were rooted in love and sincerity.

Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Elva Tamez Longoria (February 9, 2007), and her father, Manuel Longoria Jr. (March 3, 2026).

She is survived by her son, Xavier Sebastian Hernandez; her sister, Melinda Martinez; her brother, Manuel Longoria III; her beloved nieces and nephews; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Texas. From the Houston area to The Valley and Corpus Christi, family was never measured by miles but by the memories they shared. Countless holidays, spring breaks, Labor Day camping trips with “the primos,” and family gatherings created memories that will be treasured forever. She also leaves behind many dear friends and her cherished church family at New Riverside United Methodist Church.

Melissa will be remembered for her faith, her servant’s heart, her honesty, and the love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Melissa’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, 4 p.m. at New Riverside United Methodist Church, 3419 E. Belknap Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76111.

Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate Melissa’s life, share memories, and give thanks for the blessing she was to so many.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
